1/2/2024 0 Comments Fishing planet spawn maps![]() ![]() Some times Soopa-Dave's console advice work on Steam-PC, but not always. That I found out the hard way a couple of years ago and got a friend of mine to double check it while streaming it on Twitch. Just take into account that he plays on console, and some spawns that are active on console is dead on Steam-PC. Well, with 7 uniques in the net in one day, I'd say his advice is pretty spot on. Then again, what do I know, I've never worked on games as I live in the world of boring enterprise applications. But when I think about that at any real level of implementation I conclude that would be a bad technical design. I consider the idea that if a map is broken up into discrete areas (as implied by Dave's Unique mechanics video), that maybe each area has an event listener, and casting into that is really the introduction of an event emitter and after a fish is spawned dynamically to then execute BiteActivity. Though whether or not they actually play might be data driven ( > 0) or whatever. ![]() ![]() The animations of fish jumping in the water and what not are entirely separate and purely aesthetic. For example, I'm pretty sure that the water isn't populated with the actual fish you are catching. Like, where are we really on "this is how this game actually works logically and mathematically." Is there a central repository of output from gaming nerds?Īs an aside, I also have a professional kind of curiosity in terms of how spawns/bites are actually handled logically. Maybe it isn't.Īlso, while many of us might intuitively discover concepts like "increase hook size to reduce Young/Common and increase Trophy/Unique bites" or "Active Fishing (lures/softbaits/etc) has better odds for Uniques over passive fishing (Float/Bottom)", but how valid are those intuitions? But I don't know, with any real level of certainty, how true his Unique Mechanics information is. For example, Soopa Dave has made like 5000 videos over the years and I've found a lot of them super helpful for completing missions and whatnot. This game is kind of weird in that I don't know what information is actually true. ![]() As someone that comes from the ARPG/MMORPG space, understanding exactly how the game actually works under the hood is super important. I'm getting close to "completing" the game, just a few more missions left, so I'm looking to start optimizing play further so I can start placing in competitions. ![]()
